Catamaran Sailing in Maldives – Some slow paced adventure to brighten your holiday

A trip to Maldives is the only time we get to have a relaxing holiday since we globe trotters are always on the run wherever we may go! This was not our first time in the beautiful archipelago surrounded by the Indian Ocean but it was definitely a holiday we were looking forward to.

This trip was not about travelling within a budget; this is an actual ‘holiday’ so we planned to splurge on the accommodation since that’s the best part of a good vacation. After going through a list of Maldives Luxury Resorts we finally decided to make a reservation at the W Retreat & Spa Maldives. This was not your usual luxury hotel but seventy eight unique luxury villas making your tropical dreams come true. The resort was just perfect, ideal for relaxing, playing and refreshing the mind and body.

During the first couple of days all we did was eat, swim, relax and simply do nothing. But then we needed a boost or rather some excitement to spice up our holiday. After going through numerous information brochures we decided to take a Catamaran ride! It was not like the extreme adventure activities we’ve tried before but something exciting to lift our holiday spirits.

Sailing on a catamaran we were able to explore the numerous islands and reefs on the lush green waters of the Indian Ocean in total comfort. Sailing amongst the water was just magnificent and we were able to enjoy the slow pace of the island life.

Since we love any type of activity that can be done in water, we couldn’t resist diving and snorkeling once we reached a certain spot in the ocean. The underwater landscape was simply out of this world and it was one of the best snorkeling experiences I have had in a very long time.

Windsurfing in Maldives: wind, water and the rush of excitement

Wondering about things to do in Maldives? For the not-so-average vacationer who craves the occasional rush of adrenaline during a luxury holiday in the tropical island of Maldives, out of the leisure and outdoor-sports activities available, windsurfing would be the ideal outdoor activity.

Picture the wind whipping in your hair as you fly over crystal clear, turquois blue waters as the sun shines down on you. That is exactly what awaits those who dare to try out this wind-water outdoor sports activity in the oceans of Maldives. One can guarantee the availability of a large portfolio of outdoor leisure activities such as windsurfing by residing at star class Maldives Villas such as the W Retreat & Spa Maldives. Such high end resorts and hotels even proceed to provide guided lessons to enable its guests to enjoy the most of windsurfing in the safest of circumstances regardless of the level of experience.

The sport itself is simply the act of using the surf board to glide on the waters with the support of the sail that will power the surfer above the waves. The regular wind surfing enthusiasts claim that any who partakes in this activity will be overwhelmed by the notion of gliding over the Indian Ocean with the swell of the tide beneath the board. As the ideal conditions for smooth windsurfing are gentle waves, a steady wind and abundant spacious lagoons, Maldives is considered a fitting destination for both the beginner and the pro. However, while a beginner may enjoy windsurfing all throughout the year, the more seasoned enthusiasts claim that the monsoon seasons are far more exhilarating as a result of the stronger winds and relentless ocean waves that create a far more exciting sailing experience leading to a stronger rush of adrenaline.

Considering the vivid variety of underwater sea life visible through the clear waters and the location, the windsurfing enthusiasts will be also occasionally be treated to the sight of a sting ray, butterfly or parrot fish among many other sea creatures.
