Launched in 1993 at the 14th Macau Grand Prix Car Race, the Grand Prix Museum is located on the Rue de Lius Gonzaga alongside the Forum de Macao. Dedicated to chronicling the fabulous spectacles of racing history made on the tracks of the Macau Grand Prix, the museum was also built with the objective of encouraging closer ties between the inhabitants of Macau and this significant sporting event which has contributed to boosting tourism.

Spanning over a blazing history of over four decades, the Macau Grand Prix, a landmark event in the Asian region takes place in November of every year, attracting tourists and superstars from the sporting world in their droves. The thrilling automobile and motorbike races have gained repute as being some of the world’s most coveted titles and championships. The exhibition atrium of the Grand Prix Museum showcases racing cars and motorcycles that have competed in the Macau Grand Prix over the years, some have been raced by the ‘greats’ such as Michael Schumacher and Eduardo de Carvalho. Racing buffs will be astounded by the fantastic collection from the annals of Macau racing history, paying tribute to famous figures such as John Corsmit, Paul Du Toit and Teddy Yip. A central exhibit is the red and white Formula 3 race car, racing cloth and helmet of Ayrton Senna the famous driver who died at the San Marino Grand Prix of ’94.

The museum has a simulator program that allows visitors to enjoy the exhilarating experience of driving a one-seater racing car of their favorite model at over 200 kilometers an hour around the famous Guia Circuit of the Macau Grand Prix. A projection device plays a documentary on the history of the Macau races and the museum, while the walls display some spectacular scenes from previous races.
